The impending contest between General Botha flnd Sir Percy Fitzpa'triek for the East Pretoria seat in the South African Parliament, is causing great controversy. Mr Merriman, Premier of Gape. Colony, declares that he will support General Botha's Government. MINISTERIAL SALARIES. PRETORIA, Juno 12. Tt is reported that General Botha's salarv will be £4000, other Ministers £3000. It is also reported that General Botha will not avail himself of the late Mr Rhodes' bequest of Grootsclmur as an official residence.
