Kive men and .three girls belonging to St. Petersburg wore out boaTing, when a steamer was .se-eu to be approaching. The girls implored 'the rowers to pull away from tthe st«anier's course biiit the men foolhardily laughed, and,-passed within, a few yards of the vessel. The beat was swamped by the wash of the steamer, and three of the men and three girls were drowned.
