Uses of Paspalum.
INTERESTING EXPEHIMEMS. Mr Keillor, of Bulls, his boon sowing paspalum on bis Raumai estate for some years past. The first four years, says an exchange, was given to experimenting, but during the last six years bo lias gone in more etxensively each year. He considers it takes about three years before it comes to full maturity. Tho grass comes aw.ay slowly the first year, and 'becomes a very heavy body of feed the third year. Mr Keillor luis a paddock laid down for five years, and during that time it has given exceptionally fine returns; in fact, during the winter months it carried two bullocks to the acre, and tlicy came out fat. Of course this result can only be obtained by allowing the feed to got well .away by closing up the paddock in laite summer and autumn. This can he left for ftynHnn; off purposes until well into tite winter months. Frosts have absolutely no effect upon it, as tha grass does not shrivel and rot; away, being of a strong, sturdy nature; it does net fall over and lav close to the ground and rot, .as do other grasses, where closed up and allowed to grow rank. Mr Keillor has laid down a considerable portion (<f bis Raumai estate with paspalum, .and is positive that this "rass will double the carrving capaoitv. The grass is of a crisp and succulent nature, and is oaten greedily by all stock, more especially dairv cows. Close feeding has no 'illeffects on this grass; in fact, it makes it. all the stronger.
