The tracks are in good order, and a cold westerly wind is blowing threatening rain. .Nineteen bookmakers were licensed. Results:— BOROUGH HANDICAP, six furlongs. Boanerges, 9.3 ... 1 Parula, 7.7 ... 2 Emblom, 7.6 ... 3 Scratched: Lethean. Tho big field gave a lot of trouble at the start. Finally St. Bill and True Shot got away with a slight advantage, Ballaralb and Kareroa being loft. Boanerges took charge at the entrance to tho straight, and won comfortably by a length and a half. Time, lmin 15 4-ssec.
WANGANUI STEEPLECHASE, 3 miles. Jack Pot, 9.13 ... 1 Lovell, 9.13 ... 2 Oryx, 9.9 ... 3 Also started: El Dorado 11.7, Mocassin 10.5, Sir Lethe 10.5, Bullworth 10.4, Lingerer 10.0, Pharos y - 7 - lit was a splendid race. Sir Lethe jumped over the first obstacle in the lead, but lie landed over tlio rail and on to the wrong track, as a result of which; he had to be pulled up. Lovell then took the lead, and maintained the position until the last jump, where Jack Pot went to the front and finally ran home a. winner by two lengths. Oryx was close up to the second horse. Time, Gmin 7 2-ssec. Mocassin and Pharos both broke down. BuilworMi's saddle slipped during the race. A protest- was onltered against Jack Pot, winner of the Steeplechase, for boring Lovell, but it was disallowed. ELECTUTC HACK, G furlongs. Faunus, 8.0 ... ... 1 Golden Loop, 8.11 ... 2 Voca, 7.11 ... ... 3 Also ran: St. Felix 9.3, Moree 8.7, Valentine 7.12, Leolanter 7.12, Idolatress 7.10, Andrew Mack 7.G, Pnancer 7.0, St. Litm.sdo.ii 7.G, Moutoa 7.5, Blend 7.1, Senorita 7.0, Grey Eagle 7.0, Sea Wind 7.0, Mazona 7.0. Faunus led all the way, and won by over a length, with Voca a. fair third. Time, linin 10 l-3see. KAITOKIO HACK HURDLES, 1:1 miles. Merry Lawn, 9.1 ... 1 Nightmare, 10.1 ... 2 Pikopo, 10.5 ... ... 3 Scratched: Woolloomooloo. Nightmare led to the straight, where Merry Lawn took command and won by throe lengths, a similar distance between second and third. Time, 3min 17 2-ssec. TAKAPUNA ASLEEP. No results have been telegraphed from Takapuna.
