A cable to-day from Sydney states that the s.s. "Pendlehill has arrived there from N'ydia Bay. The vicar of St. Saviour's, Eastbourne, writing in his parish magazine, has an amusing reference to tho unconventional habits of certain colonial Bishops. He says:— "The secretaries of the reception committee of the Diocesan Conference .state that out of 215 circular letters issued by them requesting hospitality for visitors to the conference, only about half have met with any reply. There is special need for more sleeping accommodation being offered. We remember some time ago hearing of a hostess who declined to offer such hospitality for a Pan- Anglican Con gross because sho had once put up two colonial Bishops, and they both smoked in bed."
