Tho following results came ,to hand after wo went to press on Saturday : — Empire Handicap.—Sea Elf 1 Uranium 2, Sir Ar.tegal 3. ' Handicap Maiden Hurdles.—Kin" Hippo 1, Matere 2. Spectre 3. Ilauraki Hurdles.—Tui Gakobau 1, Armagh 2. Commander 3. Royal Handicap.— Lady I' 1 ranees 1 Dogger Rank 2, .Impulsive 3. ' ( Ngatnrinrv Ha.ndinap. _ Flving Son lit 1, Ma rnon and Black 2, Oa|h tain Soult 3. NOTES. ff«i 7m* (By " Minorn.") Mr George Morse's adjustments in. with the Wanganui meeting met with good re.spon.se from owners and trainers, and there is every prospect of the fixture being a distinct success. In the Kaitoko Hurdles, Paisano. Continuance and Wimmern, have been. withdrawn, each claimiii" - an engagement in the Century Hurdle Handicap. iMaliaranaii and Millpond appear to be the best treated, and Itihe pair should give a good account or themselves. The Electric Handicap will bo contested by some first-class hacks, including St. Felix (who defeated Waikaralca at the Marlborough meeting). Stourton (a dual winner at Hawera), Moree and Idolatress. The latter is a very speedy customer, and doubtless will command a good deal of .support. The Purua, Handicap, with Strathmoira, Ambrosian, Royal Marine, First Consul, Attention "and Beacon engaged therein, should be a keenly contested event, as it hoy are all endowed with pace. First Consul, Ambrosian and Beacon arc coming on fast, and they should "have something to say " at the business end of tho journey. Mr 10. J. Watt has withdrawn Bridge lrom fcho Connolly Handicap in favour of Maori King, who gavo a creditable display at Hastings last month. Pennies and Clemora liavo been given a chance of earning honours, as both are missing from tho list engaged in the Borough Handicap. Sir Antrim, Maori King and Waipaku aro a trio that should give a good account of themselves. The former, it may bo remembered, ran a sterling race when he acted as runner up to Sir Tristram at Hastings last mouth. Good ropoifts have been hoard of Wa.ipaku's 'track work at Foxton, and tho Conqueror gelding has won distinction by being credited with running one mile and a I quarter in fast time. There aro a number of first-class sprinters ungaged in the Borough Handicap, Boanerges leading the list wiltii 9st 31b. Of the lowei division Emblem and Overtime appear to have winning chances. One of the most noticeable defections from tho Steeplechase is Audax, who had a considerable number of admirers. Jack Pot, Siir Letlio and El Dorado should give the opposition a very lively time. The t rio have been acquitting themselves creditably on the training tracks, and aro now in good fettle to contest tho big event. There is all the material engaged in the Ceniturv Hurdle Handicap to make the race brimful of in terest. Continuance will no doubt find a large number of supporters, but I am inclined to think that he will meet his Waterloo in Gold Bird, Hydrant and Wimmera, ivho are adapted wiith pace and jumping ability When in Masterton on Thursday T was informed that First Consul had improved considerably, and his connections are making no secret of the fact that the son of Conqueror will run generously at Wanganui. The Wairarirpa-trainod _ gelding. Sir Lethe, has never been in better racing condition than at present, and his owner expats tho Lethe gelding to be seen ill a favourable liglit at Wanganui. Sir Lethe claims an engagement in the I>ig steeplechase event with an impost of lOst. olb. Afterthought is undergoing a thorough preparation a't Opaki, in view of ■the"forthcoming Otaki meeting on the Levin course. Millpond is the only Levin-owned horse engaged at'the Wanganui fixture. "The Judge" in the New Zealand Times, persists in writing of Plantation. as being in A. J. Shenrsbv's stable at Levin. This statement is unfounded, as Plantation was transferred to Hnwera. some time back. H. Telford will ride Millnnnd in his hurdle engagements at Wanganui. Bnllnrat and Moloch will be piloted bv 0. Emmersoii (tho Canterbury lightweight) in their engagements at Wanganui.
