Tlie Standing Committee of Secondary Schools Association waited oil the Minister of Education to-day to brins under has notice the question of tho I'epresenitation of secondary schools on the University Senate, with a view to securing cooperation between parties in the matter of examinations. The question arose at tho laite secondary schools conference. It was pointed out by the deputation that the University scheme, especially in science and chemistry examinations, was much behind the times. They desired tto make matriculation continuous and free at the place of examinations. The Minister, in a sympatheie reply, said that while he was not quite able to say whether the matter was of sufficient urgency as to demand special legislation he believed that it would bo in the best interests of education and would strengthen the Senate if representatives in close touch with secondary schools were appointed. Tf anv amendment, were made in the University Act, he would give his assistance.
