IMPORTS OF FOOTBALL MATCHES.
To the Editor Sir, —fn past years there has always been considerable outcry and dissatisfaction in this part of the district regarding the very biassed reports of the various' football matches that have been played in Levin, to say nothing of scurrilous remarks, cju ito uniieserved, that have been levelled at highly respected supporters of Rugby' that have the misfortune to live outside Levin. hi rending the excellent account of the Levin-Hui Mai match in your Monday's issue, \, together with many of your rapidly increasing subscribers in this' locality, would like to tender our congratulations to the new management on the thoroughly unbiassed report which contains no party spirit (a spirit that wo have been accustomed to in the Levin paper of late years). f confess when f read your leader last week re "Rugby Roughs" I had my doubts as to the efficacy, thinking a. dangerous menace to football would be placed in the bauds of men who in the past could not see outside their own little backyard, but after Saturday's game I think the reporting is in safe hand*. no more thing Mr Editor, a suggestion for the good of the game. A referee should not In* appointed unless ho can'keep up with tire game, amrl at 'the same time carry a whistle that will sound when blown, so as to prevent n.nv unpleasantness when a. player inquires what the game is stopped for no whistle- 'having sounded.—T am, etc., MAXAKAU SPORT.
