The Poultry Industry.

The Government has apparently como to the conclusion that its efforts to foster the poultry indued try have not produced satisfactory results. The poultry depot at Auckland (.the Dannevirke Advocate ■points out) has be'en closed, tlioso at Wellington and Dunedin were closed a considerable time ago, so that the only depot now open is at Chxistchurch, where a large breeder of ducks enables it 'to be carried on. It is stated that the reason for the closing of the Auckland depot was that a large company decidled not KJo allow its grading to bo done there •any longer. The depot is now being conducted by Mr E. H. Chamberlain, of Ponui Island, a large poultry farmer, whose principal abject ia to keep the market open for fcho benefit of farmers. Mr Chamberlain is endeavouring to open up a market in the Islands for New Zealand poultry.
