MINISTER FOR RAILWAYS TO EXQCI.RE. MESSRS MILLAR AND FIELD, M.'.s.P., TO VISIT THE DISTRICT. Mr W. 11. Field, .\I.P.. as member for the district, has received ■■('((iiL'sts for several additional facilities, such as railway sidings, erection of loading yards, tho building of goods shwl.s, etc.. from various stations alnng tho Manawatu line. It oc'iirr-d to Mr Field that "the best way to proceed would bo bv getting the Minister of Railways to spend a. day enquiring for himself into the wants of tlr.» people indicated. _ With that view Mr Field has obtained the Hon. Mr Millar's consent to his paying a. visit along tho lino with him at an early date. But for the death of King Edward, it is probable this visit would have taken place last Saturday, and an endeavour was made to arrange it for the coming Saturday. Mr Millar, however, has engagements keeping him in Wellington on tin* latter day, and ho has, therefore, decided that the Manawatu line trip mu.st-st-and over until his return from Diiiie.diiii. whither he accompanies his Excellency tho Governor next week. Mr Field will bo leaving for the May of Plenty on the 2otii May, and it is likely that he will bo away for a week also. It is probable that when he returns, both Mr Millar and himself will visit the Manawatu lino and make personal inspection of thr< positions concerned in th; , several applications above referred to. Shannrn and »it"itherlfvi are understood to by two 'if the l(-calitic.s that will be visited.
