He thus learned tliat tho monev was the proceeds of a ROBKKRY AND MURDER, and when lie was arrested wi.tih the Apaches he told all that he knew about the crime. He was acquitted ,'is having had nothing to do with it, whilst tlio others wero sentenced, but immediately after his release he received the above message. Being of a very impressionable mind, he left tho quarter, and, as ho had to go through his military service at a, place .some distance from Paris, ho felt safo for two years at 1 cast. uiit when he returned to Paris the same mysterious message was reeoived. It "'drove him frantic, and for some months he was taken care of in an asylum. Alt the end of that time ho l'eturned to Paris, but settled in a different quarter. Tho third day after his arrival he ventured out for a .walk with a. friend of his, and was standing in the street talking with him, when someone ran by and stabbed him with a stiletto near the heart. Tie foil down and died in a few minuites, _ while the murderer escaped in the darkness. The Apaches had carried out their threats of revenge.
