Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received tlio following caiblo messages from their London House, under date of the 12th inst.: —
Wool.—Sales closed with prices oil a par with (the highest point of these sales. As compared with last sales closing rates, Merino wools are par to 5 per cent, higher, crossbred wools of lino and medium quality suitable for America are 5 per cent. lower, whilst other descriptions of erossbreds are unchanged. Tlio total net quantity available amounted to 177,000 bales, of whioh 1000 bales were sold to America, 91,000 bales for Home consumption, and 51.000 bales to the Continent, leaving 25,000 bales to be carried forward to next series. The fourth scries fixed to open on 12th July are limited ;to lUO.OOO bales net new arrivals, provided the quantity be reached before the Bth day prior te the opening of the sales. No wools arriving after that date will bo >adiii it tc:l. Tallow.—Prices Od lower. Buyers are holding off. There will be no public sales next week. Frozen Meat.—Mutton is in poor demand, with prices Jd to id lower, but beef .and lamb are firm at unchanged prices. Rnbbitskiiis.- Furriers, for which there was no demand, were withdrawn, and other descriptions ruled Id ;tr> 11(7" lower: 1780 bales wore offered and 15'i8 bales sold. Hid os and Leather.—Tlio market for these is very firm. Basils. -- Prices unchanged. LEVIN PIG SALE. Hudson and Marriott, Ltd., report having held their usual sale of pigs at Levin oil Friday. There was a large yarding of all classes of pigs. 127 being penned at our yards. 80 of which were prime porkers. Owing to the quantity offering, competition was .somewhat restricted, .and values receded considerably as compared with our last sale. In consequence of tlx* low prices ruling, we advised our clients to bold for next sale, as supplies will ho shorter and values must improve. We quote :■■-Prime heavy porkers, .'?ru (!d : medium. 28s to 82s: light. 25s to 27s (3d ; slips. 9s {;> lis 3d: woaners, 0s to 7s 3d. Poultry sold well : roosters, to 2s :{ |: geese. .Is .Id. Wo sold several corrugated iron tanks, which have come into the market in conseriuenoe of the high pressure supply. The«e found a readv market amongst our country clients, and niado good prices. SALE AT THE MART. Hudson and Marriott, Ltd., report having held It heir usual sale at the Mart on Saturday last, when they offered a considerable quantity of goods, which were saved from the recent fire. A largo crowd of buyers were present, and a successful sale resulted. Groceries, hardware and fancy goods, all more or less damaged, sold readily and the vendors were pleased with pricas' obtained. Produce sold well, onions, quinces, melons, leeks, marrows, potatoes, carrots, etc., making (j::od prices. Some indication of the popularity of these Mart sales may be gat he-red from the fact that nearly 200 accounts were dealt with on Saturday.
