GREENHOUSE
At this season of the year bloom in the greenhouse is somewhat scarce but geraniums, chrysanthemums, cyclamens, will make a show. liemember that ventilation is the most important factor at this season of the year in tho successful management of a greenhouse. Too often amateurs close down their greenhouses early, and as a result growth remains tender and becomes weak, and so soon as a heavy frost appears much damage results. Bloom, too, suffers from damping if the house is kept close. "We advise plentty of air circulation for as many hours in the day as possible, and if not stormy the top ventilators may remain open all night. Careful watering is another important facltor at this season; from now supplies of weak liquid manurewill till spring enly the necessary amount to the continuance of growth in winter flowering plants with occasional be necessary. Other plants, especially of the soft, sappy order, should be given water enough only to keep alive. This reduction of water will ripen the growth and make it frost resistent. Tree or winter flowering carnations are now becoming very popular in some centres in the dominion. In some of the cities, particularly Dunedin and Wellington, this flower is grown freely for market purposes and for blooms, which are well formed and definite in colour, quite fancy prices, will be paid. Those who have strong plants in pots should now get them Hinder cover, and if the pots are well filled with roots, occasional supplies of weak liquid manure will help the growth, and later add much to the size of the bloom.
