(Isy If. I). France.) I J >iiriii<4 .(In" [>;isfc week tlie comet Ikis li, i: 11111:111 v increased in brightness, anil 1 lie tail has increased in length; although tins 'bright moonlight lias somewhat discounted these IVa.tures. So far there does not appear to have been any great change in the 'tfi.il, such as extra Mils or streamers. During its in IS.'!.") lor some reason at present unexplained, it lost its tail for i short peiiod. To-jnonw we • ■n;ss the track or orbit of the comet . . a point which the comet will not i ai'li until about -May 27. In view . i tiie certain connection of comets itli streams of meteorites, it has b.HMi suggested, that about this time v. e may have a display of meteors ■ r falls of meteorites. There have ' .'en three comets visible so far this .•..•■nr. The one, known as comet 1;) 10a, h«s been a striking object in iiie evening sky in the Northern ! iein.isphere diM'ing the end of Janu::h,y, and the month of February, it created a great amount of pub- !■:• interest in Russia; .among the h.-wer orders, it was the cause of a '..rent deal of superstitious fear. I though first reported from Johann.sbiMg. it does not appear to have b -en visible 4o advantage in the Siuthern Hemisphere. Another ( -met was discovered by M. Pidoux, C Mievn. on 20th February; it was onite close to Halle.y's at ithat time, and was moving fairly rapid.ly in a ;• :uth-western direction. This one. ( oinet 1010b) does not appear to, have developed into anything brill: int, as nothing has been reported i 'lout it by cable.
