TO PREVENT MISAPPREHENSION.

To tlio Ivlitor-Sir,--In Satllrelay's edition of the • *C^li roiiit-Io" appeared a report of a committee meeting of the JJoating Mub, in which any remarks re "raring-boats" were somewhat twisted. If yon will kindly allow me space, 1 will make my actual opinions clour. 1 ventured the i.-pinion that, .as these boats were to b;> procured and used for racing l and (raining by in tending competitors only (not for the pleasure of the general members) those members having the special privilege of using these new boats should pay a, higher rate of subscription than the ordinary members who pay £'l Is per y<ar. 'Ibis is .a very different ! thing to saying "that if certain members wanted, boats for racing purposes, they should provide them without taxing the I'm ids of the club;" in other words, "pay for the boats themselves." It is on the abovelilies tha.t Mind .Mr .Macintosh's concurrence. The entrance fees for the races would, not pay the interest on the outlay (eight per cent), leave alone the wear and tear these boats Inive to stand during training. T thnilc the committee members present at the meeting will bear me out as regards the words T used. Thanking you in anticipation.—l .am. etc.. R. TT. KPvKC.-.dXG.

To tho Editor. Sir. 1 must taku exception to your report, in to-dav'a issue, of the Heating Club's Cominitt<H? meet-inn;: I mivm Mimt portion which states T seconded Mr I' fecliliopinion "that il certain members wnnlt boats lor rnc-I ntr. ctf.'' This opinion was uoror expressed; therefore not seconded by mo. I take exception "ilso to what individual meinliers say in eemmitteo being in (11 ila 11 I '] ami published outside. Several members hnve
