Provincial Notes.

e Mr Pope, the commercial agent oi the South Australian Government in London (writes tho Sinithlield correspondent of the Pastoralists' Keviou'), .states that the direct shipment of frozen meat from the State to ports otibcr than London has just arrived. The first direct shipment to Hull came per s.s. Rippingham Grange, and Air Pope says 1m i.s very much pleased with the results of ianding direct from ship to store (instead of barging, as in London), and also with the very satisfactory manner in which Hull buyers arc taking the shipment up: so mud) so, that ho has already caibled to Adelaide to see if he can arrange other shipments this season. There is no doubt. lis says, that next season the South Australian shippers will make Hull a port for regular shipments. The first shipment to Bristol reached there, per the Fe:l-eral-Houlder-Shire steamer Essex, and the results have been as satisfactory as those obtained at Hull. This policy of supplying the provinces with South Auotralian_ meat, through the provincial ports, it will bo. remembered, was the idea of Major Norton, who will return to London to resume his position of Commercial Agent in July, wlien Mr 7'ope will go back to Adelaide to his work as Government Produce Manager.
