NEWS FROM SHANNON. (Chronicled by our Resident Representative.) ON THE BOWLING GREEN. On Wednesday, on the bowling green, a match was played for the "Dixon Pins" between the holders (W. Clayton and J. Roach) and two challengers (T. C. Dunckley and H. Knowles. At the conclusion of the game the scores were: Holders 23 points, challengers 13. This makes the third season 'that Mr Roach has held the "Dixon Pins." He is also the holder of the singles championship gold medal, which was. uncontested this season. Mr Geo. Pa ton succeeded in winning Mr Gunning's prize for novices. Next week Messrs W. Clayton and J. R. Esson play N. A. Roos and H. Knowles for the "Sta.nsell Feathers." The club expect to close the season at the end of the month. THE TENNIS CLUB DANCE. The Tennis Club are holding their annual euchre party and dance in tho Druids' Hall, on the 29th inst. OTHER SOCIAL EVENTS. On Wednesday night the Druids' Assembly was exceptionally well attended. Mr A. MoMinn, of Palmerston, supplied the music, and Bro. D. Gardiner proved himself an efficient M.C. On Eriday night the bowlers and druids met at the Druids' Hall to do battle at euchre. A very enjoyable evening was spent resulting in a big win for the bowlers by 02 points; the druids scoring 91 to the bowlers 153 points. They have arranged a crib tournament for the Oth May. Brothers J. Murray and E. Law presented two prizes for the highest scores on both sides at the last tournament. Mr T. Lind won the prize presented to tho bowlers, and Bro. G. Quarrie the one for the druids. Mr Bert Spencer was successful on Saturday in winning Mr .Tenkins' prize, of an aperture sight, on the riflo range. The result of the Shaniioii-Foxton football match appeared in yesterdays' "Chronicle."
