N.Z. FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE DISTRIBUTING CO., LID.
WEEKLY REPORT,
(Special to "The Horowhenua Chronicle.") For the convenience of the fanning community, " The Chronicle " is reprinting from day to day, daring the autumn season, the quotations of prices current as issj.xl by the Fanners' Distributing Company WELLINGTON, April 15. Large cargoes of potatoes have lately arrived from south, and the market is AVe.uk, while the position is made worse by the great quantity of blighted tubers arriving, mostly from Blenheim. Siu;h lines should not be sent to this market. Eggs are very scarce throughout the district, and higher prices will doubtless rule. Clients are now advised to send in preserved eggs, which are selling at Is 4d per dozen. We have keen inquiries for dressed porkers, and we could get 4d per lb. for good lines. Honey, beeswax, walnuts, and lungus are wanted. Apples are still continuing to glut the market, and nominal values rule. Good crops throughout most outside districts practically preclude shipping away into the country. Tomatoes are in shorter supply, and the value is rising. Marrows- , should not be sent in, as the mar- % ket is over-supplied. We have year largely extended our frnij| | trade, but still have the capacity a greater increase, and we hope present suppliers who are satisfied with our efforts on their behalf, will show appreciation by advocating neighbours to ship our way, to the benefit of themselves, the company, and the general protection of the industry.
