The police hero lum; discovered that a man who was formerly a chimney sweep is the organiser of an international giing of hotel thieves. It appears that he began by utilising his chimney-climbing powers to enter hotels. Afterwards ho organisd a band of thirty actual thieves, besides agents and receivers. This gang was responsible for the robbery of .021,000 worth of jewels from the Gnand I Intel at Gonna, on .Inly 7, 1908. Seventeen arrests have boon effected in different Continental cities, and the Berlin police estimate that .1*200,000 worth of plunder has been obtained.
