"At Readers' Kisk" was the appropriate heading to some illegedly useful recipes printed in yesterday's issue of "The Chronicle." Tlio heading was most appropriate, in view -r>f the mix-up that occurred. As a dressing for lettuce salad, our rruliTs wen 1 recommended to tako a little bacon or pickled pork in a skillet, three eggs, one-half pint .sweet cream, one teaspoon cornstarch, added after cookcd. After our readers had recovered from the shock of being told to use a skillet of pickled pork as .a dressing for lettuce, they received the following advice on the way to make afr "t salad : "Yolks of three eggs beaten light, one cupful olive oil. beat well while .stirring into eggs, two-thirds cupful of thick cream; beat thoroughly as you add to eggs md oil. Sup-ar to taste, tnblerpoonTill of salt, one-fourth tcn-.'■'jor.uf-d of red pepper." Then nine' some allegations about cabbug.:;; r.i:d potatoes, which aro bereath contempt. The contributor rf these recipes has been warned off the ."•'"navy course, md arrangements h>ave been made to have all f'ltura recipes sub-edited by the Imlv who looks after the editor's i:'.eals.
