The Commissioner of Customs prosecuted Messrs 1011 is, Kislingbiiry, and Company for importing, ex Omrah, 3.'3 cwt. of Victorian butter containing per cent, of water. Defendants pleaded that tlie Victorian Government's certificate did not mention .any excess of water. They regarded the certificates as practically Government guarantees. The magistrate at Tower Bridge, < in imposing a fine of -10s, said ; " The people who inspected this butter before shipment ought to be before me." TIIE KING'S HEALTH. LONDON, April 10. The Observer's Biarritz correspondent. states that the King's health is perfectly re-established. GENKRAL BOOTH'S BIRTHDAY. LONDON, April 10. Queen Alexandra sent a letter to General Booth on the occasion of his birthday (10th April).
