Bachelor Bishop on Matrimony.

y HIS TKST 01 , UKAI, I.OVIO. The Bishop of London recently delivered— Some epigrams on matrimony— despite his bachclordom. A sporting address, in which he gave his audience a glimpse of his .athletic life. A lighting speech against objectionable books and plays. Ho addressed tho men's meeting at Excelsior Hall, Bethnal Green. "It feels like coining homo when I come to Bethual Green," ho said. "I find some things changed, still, there are some other things we want to alter. "I do not like to see the crowds coming out of the public houses «it threo o'clock on Sunday afternoon. T do not mind just the dear old fish shops- smelling just the same. They are all right. "But what we have to alter most are tho homes of Bethnal Green. T know something of the homes of Bethnal Green ; in fact, I have started a good many of them on Christmas mornings, when I have married as many as forty couples." Then the Bishop broke into epigrams. These are some of them: " "Tho best test whether a husband loves his wife is his conduct towards her ten years after they have been married. "Every husband and wifo would be better if they had a fortnight's holiday away from each other every year. "The wife should be free for at least a. fortnight from tho cares of the house and children, ami she would return at the end of that period to the joys of her homo with increased strength. "Xo homo is complete without children. I fill mine with other people's children, having none of my own. '"Tt is so easv io tell Tommy to run along to Sunday school, and to send the missis io evening church while you sit down with a, paper and a pot of beer. But, mind you, when the time comes and the hoy grows up. he will do exactly what his father did."
