[IIY EIiECfTHTC TELI3OHAI , »I--COPYRIOHT.]
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received. This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, April 1. The Westminster Gazette (Liberal) say that although no arrangements have been made with the Nationalists, the situation of the Government is distinctly better. The closure proposal* have increased the prospects of the Government holding on for sonic time, ond possibly of sending the veto proposals up to the House of Lords. Not half a dozen members of the Lower House waul another election and all are working to defer it as late as possible, even till next
vear. Mr W. O'Brien. ALP., speaking at Cork.--alleged Hint Air Redmond was using his position, which gave him the balance of power in the House of Commons, to deprive Ireland of the most splendid concessions regnrding the Budget and land purchase. Trekiul, he said, should be relieved of whiskey duties, brewery licenses, land taxes, succession duties, and general revaluation.
Mr Dillon. M.P. has had another fruitless interview with Mr Lloyd-George (Chancellor of the Exchequer).
Moderate Liberals doubt the wisdom of rushing tlio Premier's resolutions through the _ House of Commons. Th-.' majority, however, of tlie Ministerialists, Nationalists, and Labour Party favour reaching the crisis quickly.
