TO HONOUR ST. PATRICK.

SPORTS AT WERAROA RACECOURSE. An agreement wa-s circulated amongst the tradespeople to-day, and practically signed without exception, stipulating for observance of Thursday next as a holidav in honour of St. Patrick, whose day it is. The local committee which has the movement for a sports meeting in progress is gratified at the support already received. Numerous entries have been made for the running, cycling, pony gallops and motor-car races, and many more- are anticipated in view of the fact that the list is to be kept open until 9 o'clock to-morrow evening. The first event will be run off at 12 _ o'clock, and the executive promises that all the subsequent ones will be moved alone: so merrily that there will be no time for dull moments. It is intended to make the gathering an annual one, provided the public support to be given next Thursday., proves tfl be satisfactory. Arrangements bare been completed for first-class catering on the ground, so that visitors from far and near may have no doubt of their comfort being well looked after.
