The course was ten miles to windward and back. The wind was smart nnd a light sea was running. The Sayonarn took the lead almost from the start, and steadily widening the gap separating • the contestants, she rounded the buoy seven minutes forty seconds ahead of the Culwalla. The home journey was mado with a fresh wind astern. The Saynniara finished with 13 minutes 12 seconds to the good. This is a minute and a half "more than the extreme time allowance she could bo asked to give the Culwulla.
