The Break o’ Day Battery is still employed in .crushing for the Rising Sun and Bee Hive claims, both, of which are making a good show. We have been informed that the Rising Sun claimholders intend keeping one battery constantly employed. . The bat? tery.is still employed crushing for the Loyalty and Atlantic claims, both of which are looking well. The Una Quartz. Crushing. Company’s battery is employed crushing for the Lone Star and Day Spring claims. About 20 pounds of amalgam have already been taken off the plates of the battery which is crushing for the Lone Star, although the stuff which is being crushed is a lot of stuff and debris from .which the shareholders did not expect any great returns. The stuff from the Day Spring claim is also turning out well; The shareholders of the. Ben Lomond claim,, next the Auckland Re serve, on the Hape Creek, struck a new leader in, a shaft twenty-eight feet deep, from which some excellent specimens were taken out last evening.
The miners of the Young American claim, Moanatairi, are taking out some fine stone. We were informed by one of the shareholders that •£IOOO has been refused for a half share in this claim.
The Enterprise claim, on the Shelback Creek. Two fine leaders have been cut in a drive, which the miners of the claim are entering through their ground. One of the leaders is composed of brown quartz, and is about two feet thick ; the other is blue and white quartz intermixed with blue mullock. ■
The-owners of Shaw’s .Reef, on the Shellback Creek, had five pounds of their new leader tested at Mr Spencer’s, the result being two grains of gold.
The Manurika is a claim of six men’s ground on the Kuranui ridge, between the Eureka, Columbia, and Golden <:Belt claims.
