THE NATIVE OUTBREAK.

ENGAGEMENT WITH THE REBELS NEAR WAIKABIMOANA. [The first of these accounts appeared in the Times of Thursday last.] - News was brought into town late last night of an engagement between our forces and the escaped prisoners, near Waikarimoana, on the 9th instant, resulting, we are sorry to hear, in nine casualties, —including, it is to be feared, the deaths of Captain Carr and Mr Davis Canning. From what we have been able to gather, we learn that the European forces were encamped on an island, and that the Hauhaus commenced the attack. They were repulsed and driven back, with what loss is not known. We anxiously await further particulars.
