AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. Mr Alfred Buckxand’s report for the week ending 7th August:— At the Ilaymarket, on Saturday last, there was a little more demand for small loads of hay than on the previous week; in large loads no alteration in •value; inferior wheat brought 4s the bushel; sharps, 7s the lOOlbs; and bran, lid the bushel. For horse stock there was a steady enquiry, and the advanced prices of the past few weeks were fully, sustained. lie, avy draught horse a&ck brought from £2710s to £34 10s each. The horses from the ast Coast, well suitable for light active’ draught horses, were freely competed for, and sold at prices, varying between £3 ids aud £l7 15s respectively. At : Otahiihu. on Tuesday, there was a fair muster of store cattle, and good competition particularly for young cattle. Half-bred hoggetts brought 12s; aged loiig-woolled ewes, 193; and young ewes 20s. *

At Papakura, on Wedne- day. there was a larger than usual muster of cattle, and more numerous attendance. Dairy cows offered plentifully and met with a steady sale at full fates. The young cattle were of good quality, and iu demand.' At the Eemuera Yards, on Thursday, a larger than usual muster of dairy stock met with very dull sale, and many were particularly backward springers. Grown steers in fresh condition sold freely at full Kites; and young cattle maintained previous rates. Bat cattle were abundant and of good quality, about 90 head sold. They met with >i steady free sale at about 42s the lOOlbs.. Bew store sheep offered, and.those were better worth. Bat sheep, although iu excess of immediate requirements, fully maintained previous values. The wethers, ex Star of the South?bringing from 21s to 29s 6d each, averaged 24s 6cL Those ex John Penn wei;e many of them of inferior .quality; they brought from 16s to 265, averaging : 2ls‘ each.

Messrs Wm. Hunter & Co.’s report for tlie week ending 7th August:—

On Saturday last, at the Durham Yards, horses sold better than of late. Beit Hacks sold from £7 to £1010s; oats sold for 3s 6d per bushel; draught horses from £lO to £25 each.

On Monday, at Newmarket, there was a good supply of cattle. Dairy cows were in full supply, and sold from £9 to £l2 2s 6d; store cattle were scarce; those in sold well. A good number of fat cattle : were penned, and of good quality, and sold from 40s ,to 45s per lOOlbs. There was a fair supply of sheep which sold well.' Half-bfeds from 20s to 24s each; merino welhers.frohi2os to 22s‘each. A good number of pigs sold.welL ! At Otahuhu, op Tuesday, there was a fair number of cattle penned; two year old steers sold for £5 7s 6d each; calves sold fromfrl 15s each; ‘yearlings from £3 5s to £3l2s6d each; store cows, £4 5s each.,

At Papakura, on Wednesday, there was about 90 head of cattle penned, which sold at fully Newmarket prices. Dairy cpws sold from £lO to £l2 ss, two year old steers from £sl2s 6d to £7 IDs, calves from £ll6s to £3 2s 6cl, yearlings from £3 to £4, tw,o year old - heifers from £5 15s to £7 15s each.
