The news from the Thames' goldIfieds continues of a highly encouraging character., . We take the following paragraphs from the. New Zealand Herald, of the 12th June:—
Gold ebom the Thames.— The, steamer Taiirauga arrived from Shortland. at four o’clock yesterday with! 600, ozs. gold .from , the Batik of .Australasia,, and about 300' ozs. from the . Bank of New. Zealand. . The Homgwabd Bound , Claim. —A private letter just received from this, claim says :—“The . Homeward Bound . claim were yesterday crushing specimens in their berdan, the yield.- of which was splended. Sixty-seven pounds of stone,was crushed, which yielded. 1£ oz. to. the pound'; the total ;of the 67 lbs. being 97 ozs.’’. Expobt or Gold.— The barque Novelty, winch-sails for Sydney to-day, will be the bearer of 1515 ozs. lOdwts. gold, valued at £3,789, shipped by the .Bank of Australia for the Sydney mint.. ,
We learn also that 30fbs of stone from the Loch Earn Claim yielded 12\ ounces of gold. The news from Kennedy’s Bay is not of such an encouraging nature as that from the Thames. It is estimated that there are only about 100 people on the held, while, three weeks ago there were from 300 to; . 400. However, those that stick to . the field seem to be very well satisfied ; 1 and the quality; of the gold is said to be much richer than that from either Shortland or Tapu Creek. The discovery of gold at Hamilton (Waikato) is reported.
The resfilt of the last month’s crushing at the Kapangaj Coromandel, is reported to be 266 ounces of gold. ‘ . The New Zealand Herald, 6th June, says:—
