Serious Accident.— An accident occurred in Carlyle-street yesterday afternoon, about four o’clock, which might have been attended with fatal consequences. As Dr. Hitchings’carriage, containing himself, Mrs Hitchings, a female servant, and three children; was passing up Carlyle-st., near the old store of Messrs. Newton, Irvine and Co., the horse suddenly took fright and bolted. Dr Hitchings, Mrs Hitchings, and one of the children (a little girl), in jumping out were thrown on the road, and severely injured. The servant kept her seat, holding the two other children; and the Chorse, after running the carriage into a fence, broke away, from the harness, and left them unhurt.... We believe the Doctor was more severely injured than either of the others, though the little girl sustained a disfiguring wound in the 'face. J •
