THE GOVERNOR’S MOVEMENTS.
(From the Daily Southern Cross, Bth May.) His Excellency Governor Bowen and lady still reside in Auckland and are not expected to leave for Wellington before the termination of June. His Excellency will pay a State visit on the 13th instant to the outsettlement of Otahuhu, where he ,is to receive a public reception from the country settlers, and inaugurate the monument erected to the memory of Colonel Nixon. *
On the 15tlriinstant his Excellency will leave for the Waikato. Meetings of the friendly natives will be held at Ngaruawahia and at Hamilton or Cambridge on the Horotiu. There is no probability that any of the King natives will come down to the meetings, and no invitation has been sent to them. We have heard that some of the natives intend opening their mouths pretty .freely to the Governor at Ngaruawahia, and his Excellency must be convinced by this time that the Maoris are rather, a peculiar and outspoken race of people. His Excellency’s visit to Waikato will not have any very great significance in a political point of view, but it is well that he should Bee that famous country before going down South. ‘ . •
