• The s.b. Ahuriri, Captain Flowerday, arrived in port about 6 p.rh. last Wednesday, with full geuerai cargo from Wellington. - ' ' ' _ Tbn Colonial Government gun-hoat Sturt, Capt. Fairchild, left .Wellington, at 7 am. on Thursday, and arrived here on Friday afternoon, having experienced N.W.'winds throughout.' She. steamed Torthe East Coast- on Saturday afternoon. , . “J® P- 8, Cleopatra, Capt. Palmer, arrived in- port 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday, from Poverty Bay and Wairoa. Her detention was caused by heavy southerly weather, from which she had to seek shelter tinder Long Point. She left again for Wairoa on Friday morning, with cargo and passengers, and returned to port on Saturday with 2 pa^Lensers ’ and a small quantity of fruit. The schooner Success, Captain Trimmer, left Auckland on the Bth inst., with cargo and passengers for wangapoa, whereshe arrived the next day. Took m timber, &c., for Napier, and was ready for sea on the 12th. but strong winds setting in, prevented her leaving until the 19th. - Made a good run of thirty hours to Portland Island, and has beon since then making port, arriving here at 2 p.in. yesterday. Strong westerly winds were experienced throughout. Cargo:—3B,ooo feet sawn Huber, 5, tons doors, sashes, &c. The schooner Muriwai sailed for Mahia and Poverty Bay on Monday last. She will take in a RuuukUy of whale oil at the former place. ?*? ip Matoaka arrived at Lyttelton on the iitli February, after a splendid passage of 86 days, ahe brought out a frill cargo and 130 passengers.
