ARRIVAL OF THE LORD ASHLEY.

The Panama Company’s steamship Lord Ashley. H. Worsp, commander, arrived from Tauran ga' and Auckland at midnight on Monday last. She left the Queen-street Wharf, Auckland, at 5 ; 30 p.m. on Saturday, 12th October; arrived at Taurangaat 8-40 a.m. on the 13th'; : left again at noon the same day, and arrived in port as above., Experienced ■westerly winds to the East Cape; from thence to port strong southerly winds with squally weather. We have to thank the purser, Mr H. Pennell, for the receipt of full flies "of papers from TauraasrA and Auckland.

ARRIVAL OF THE STAR OF THE SOUTH. The s.s. Star of the South, Capt. Beudall, left Napier for Nelsoh=wßli full cargo of cattle and sheep on Wednesday, 9th October, at 330 p.m. -Had strong southerly gale with thick weather; anchored under Cape Kidnapper at 530 p.m. Left again, at 6 a.m. on the 10th, and experienced strong westerly gales throughout the passage. Passed through the French Pass at midnight on the-11th and arrived at Nelson at 5 a.m. on the 12tR—bvering the stock in excellent condition ancl without loss. Left-again for, Napier, in ballast; at 7 p.m. on Monday, 14th inst.; passed through the French Pass at midnight. At 9 a.m. on the 15th was off Wellington. Heads, at which time, saw, s.s. Wellington entering from the South. Had light head winds and fine weatber throughout the passage. Passed the s.s. Lord Ashley 20 ihiles north Castle Point at 1 ami. on the 16th;, and a cutter (probably* the St Kilda), hound south off-Bare Island at 10 a.m.; and arrived in the roadstead at 1 pm.,—entering the Iron Pot at 4 p.m. - We have to acknowledge the courtesy of-Capt. Bendall for receipt of full flies'of Nelson papers. -
