Had a fine fair wind down, arriving off the river shortly before 4 p.m. There was too much surf on' to attempt lauding troop 3 that evening. Yesterday morning commenced disembarkation; and left again for Napier 1 p.m. Had head wind all the way, and arrived in the roads at 7 p.m., entering the Iron Pot shortly afterwards.. The brig Maggie, Captain Howie, was advertised ia the Sydney papers to leave for Napier on the 15th July ; hut although we have papers up to the 17th, we'do not see any mention of her departure. From Sydney the Maggie would proceed to Newcastle, where she would take in a cargo of coal for this port. The s.s. The ship Western Empire, with passengers from England, was in collision with the barque Onward, off Wilson’s Promontory, on the Gth July. The Western Empire struck the other amidships, losing flying jib-boom, cutwater, and fore and main topmasts.

STRANDING OF THE SCHOONER JANE AT TURANGANUI. We learn that the schooner Jane, Capt. Faulkner, bound for Napier with a cargo of horses, has come to grief at Turauganui. She was coming out of the river and in attempting to cross the bar, went on shore, where she now lies embedded iu the sand to the depth of some three feet. The vessel lias aot, we believe, sustained much injury and it is expected that the next spring tide will again see her afloat.

As we notice some fears have been entertained in Auckland respecting the safety of the schooner Joanna, we may state that she was at Hokitika on the 26th ult., as we learu from the West Coast Times, of that date.
