o OOSUACIOBS. o.'he Telegraph Commissioner is prepared to receive Tenders for the Supply and Delivery of 2,460 Poles, more or less, for a line of telegraph to be constructed between Castle Point, in the Province of Wellington, and Napier, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay. The poles to be sawn from the heart of Totara, Matai, real Blue Crum, or Stringy Bark. J The poles to be of the following lengths— A few forty feet long, twenty-four inches square at the butt, and eight inches square at the top; to be charred for a length of twelve feet. A few thirty-five feet long, eighteen inches square at the butt, and eight inches square at the top. These poles to be charred for a length of nine feet from the butt. The major portion to be twenty-five feet long, eight inches sqaare at the butt, and six inches square at the top. • These poles to be charred for a length of six feet from the butt. No pole to be charred till it has been out for thirty clear, days. The poles to be sound, straight, free from sap, and shakes. N.B.—No poles will be accepted that contain the least sap. The poles to be delivered at distances of about fonr chains apart along the road from Castle Point to Whimata, Porangahau, Wallingford, Wapukijrau, Waipawa, Kaikora, Te A»te, and Havelock to Napier. Separate tenders must be made for the portions of the line between Castle Point and Porangahau, and between Porangahau and Napier, and' must state a price for each description of timber. Tenders are to specify a price per pole as per . given. Bach tender.must be accompanied with a deposit of £25,, as a guarantee of good . faith, which sum will be forfeited should any tenderer refuse to sign ..theContract in the event of bis tender being accepted.
