A Night with the Poets.— Mrs Charles Poole’s .reading under tbe above title took place on Friday night, as advertised, and was very successful. The selection of pieces displayed great taste, and Mr Seymour’s performance on the pianoforte was as good as ever. Mrs Poole was generally well received, and particularly in the scenes between Orlando and Rosalind in “As you like it”.'in the “ Charge of the Light Brigade” and selections from “.The Veiled Prophet” in Moore’s “ Lalla Rookh,” but at the close, after' residing “When Caudle becomes a Mason,” she received a perfect ovation. Mrs Newton sang “ Sweet Spirit, hear my Prayer,” “ The Merry Maids of England,” and “ Jessie’s Dream,” and was well, received, especially in the last. Mr New.tou’s singiDg “ The Old Soldier’s daughter” was much admired, in “The Old Arm Chair,” he was encored. The programme; was concluded'at 11 o’clock, alter. a very pleasant evening’s entertainment.
