NAPIER CHESS CLUB

The Napier Chess Club held its usual weekly meeting on Thursday evening, when, in spite of the wet weather, there wae a good attendance of players, including two new members. A number of handicap and friendly games were played, while L. Couch was unsuccessful in a challenge against G. 11. Brown for second position on the laddei. There has been a most encouraging increase in the club membership this year, more than a dozen new' players having joined since the season commenced.
