FRENCH CABINET

M. LAVAL PREMIER M. Regnier Takes Finance WIDE CHOICE MADE By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright LONDON, June 7. M. Pierre Laval, who yesterday stated that he could not form a Cabinet as the Radicals would not agree to the Bank of France’s ultimatum, to-day succeeded in his efforts. Financial matters will be handled by M. Regnier, a former rapporteur of the Budget in the Senate with little previous experience in a Cabinet position. M. Laval's Cabinet will be as follows :— Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs: M Pierre Laval. Ministers without portfolio: MM. Edouard Herriot, Marin and Flandin. Interior: M. Paganon. Justice: M. Leon Berard. Finance: M. Marcel Regnier. Marine: M. Francois Pietri. War: Colonel, Fabry. Education: M. Marcombes. Commerce: M. Georges Bonnet. Air: General Denain. Public Works: M. Laurent-Eynac. Colonies: M. Louis Rollin. Merchant Marine: M. Mario Roustan. Labour: M. Louis Frossard. Pensions: M. Maupoil. Agriculture: M. Cathala. Health: M. Ernest La Font. Post and Telegraphs: M. Georges Mandel. The surprise appointment is M. Regnier, who assumes the burden of the financial and economic crisis. Probably he has been chosen for his experience as former rapporteur of the Budget in the Senate. His only previous Cabinet post was the Ministry of the Interior in M. Flandin’s brief Cabinet. He is a lawyer by profession. The new Government extends from Radicals to the Right group under M. Marin. £145,000,000 GONE French Losses Since March 29 LONDON, June 7. The “Daily Telegraph’s” City editor says that the Bank of France return for the week ending May 31 showed a loss of gold totalling £64,000,000, making £145,000,000 since March 29. The latest report is that the gold efflux exceeds all expecations and can not represent the legitimate movement of capital.
