Australian Contribution (Received 8, 9-50 a.m ) CANBERRA, June 8Dr. Earle Page announced that the Federal Government has offered £lO,OOO as a gift to the Government of India for the relief of those who suffered in the Quetta earthquake.

The opening of their hairdressing saloons, which include special provision for ladies, is announced by C. and G. Lane, hairdressers, Heretaunga street, Hastings. Two lady survivors of the Quetta wreck (Torres Straits, 1890) Miss Alice Nicklin and Miss Emily Lavy, swam 25 and 35 hours respectively. They were sighted and picked up by a pearling lugger and by the steamer Albatross
