GEO. GROSSMITH DEAD

Well Known Figure on Stage LONDON, June 7. The death has occurred of George Grossmith, actor, author and theatrical manager. George Grossmith, whose father also was an actor 1 , was born r> 1874 and made his stage debut in 1892 in Gilbert and Sullivan opera. He had been managing director of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, since 1931. He has appeared in innumerable plays, some of those in which he was also part-author, being “The Bing Boys,” “The Spring Chicken,” “The Cabaret Girl.” He was the first to introduce revue and cabaret to England. Grossmith had also appeared in motion pictures.
