WIRELESS AND LONDONS
Effect of Carrier Waves IRRESISTIBLE ATTRACTION The irresistible attraction of highpower wireless waves for carrier pigeons was established by experiments conducted at the Basse Land Broadcasting station, .with the permission of the military authorities. About 200 homers were liberated during the emission of various strengths, and it was found that they were unable to leave the magnetic field set up by the most powerful electro magnetic waves within the capacity of the station. For the three minutes during which the trial was maintained, the birds struggled to escape from the charmed circle, but in every instance they ultim-. ately turned and “planed” back towards the aerial. It is pointed out that the lessons to be derived from this experiment—the first of its kind in Paris —will find their application in time of war.
