Mr. David Jones, chairman of th* New Zealand Meat Board, is sailing by the Tamaroa on Friday, states a Lo«don cable. Pilot-Officer L. F. J. Taylor, R.A.F., of No. 32 (Fighter) Squadron, equipped with Bristol Bulldog aircraft, has been promoted to Flying Officer. FlyingOfficer Taylor, who is an ex-student of Canterbury College, was formerly in the New Zealand Air Force. Mr Robert McKay, manager of Bonopu Station, Marlborough, died suddenly this morning, aged 61. He arrived in Blenheim many years ago from Canterbury, where his parents occupied the Woodstock and Cora Linn stations. He is survived by his wife, who is a complete invalid and in Picton Hospital.— Press Association. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, acting Prime Minister, will leave Wellington for the south by the ferry steamer on Friday evening. Mr Coates intends to speak in the Lyttelton by-election campaign. Passengers for tho south from Wellington last night included the Post-master-General (the Hon. A. Hamilton) and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr H. E. Holland).
