RIFLE SHOOTING
HASTINGS MINIATURE CLUB. WEEKLY TROPHY MATCH. Members of the Hastings Miniaturi* Rifle Club held their usual weekly shoot on Wednesday evening, when Messrs. F. L. Bone’s and T. Donovan’s trophies were competed for. The Bone trophy was allotted to the “A” grade and the Donovan trophy to the “B” grade. Eleven members reached the standard in both grades, and the trophies will be decided next week. The ladder badge for the evening was won by T. Rosenberg, with a 69. In the shoot-off for the previous week’s trophies T. Rosenberg won the “A” grade and T. Tuohy the “B” grade. In connection with the meeting for the formation of tho ladies’ club the date has been postponed one week, to September 19. Members are reminded of the daylight shoot to be held on the Haumoana range over the week-end, when the championship programme will be shot as a practice. Following arc the scores in detail:— A. MARAEKAKAHO MINIATURE CLUB. VISIT FROM POPORANGI CLUB. On Tuesday evening last a team of twelve, consisting of six ladies and six men, representing the Poporangi Defence Rifle Club, journeyed down to compete against a like team chosen from our club. After a very interesting and close contest, the victory went to Maraekakaho with a margin of 20 points. As this was the first time that tho visitors had shot in an artificial light their performance was most creditable. After the competition was concluded, supper was dispensed by the Maraekakaho ladies. The results are as follows: — POPORANGI. Ladies: Mrs. R. Kay 56, Miss G. Sorenson 50, Mrs. L. R. Total, 644. WEEKLY SHOOT. At our weekly shoot held on Thursday last for an optional sweepstake, two ladies and seven men tied for first place and in the shoot-off Mrs. T.
