PRICES REMAIN VERY FIRM. ACTIVE DEMAND PREVAILS.” SYDNEY, September 6. At the wool sales 11,556 bales were offered, of which 11,278 were sold and 788 disposed of privately. A very active demand prevailed, the Japanese competition being the main feature. Prices were very firm and occasionally in sellers’ favour. Splendid clearances were made. Greasy merino was up to 22d. JAPAN'S WOOL PURCHASES. INQUIRIES IN ARGENTINA. LONDON, September 5. The Argentine Embassy states that the Japanese are inquiring in the Argentina into the possibility of purchasing wool there, but nothing definite has been settled.
