APPROPRIATION BILL, ELEVATION OF BATTLESHIP GUNS. (Received 10, 11.35 a.m.) Washington, Dec. 9. The House adopted the Deficiency Appropriation Bill carrying expenditures totalling about 200,000,000 dollars, including the 950,000 dollars asked by President Coolidge for the elevation of guns on the battleships Nevada, and Oklahoma. The House stipulated that it only approved the elevation provided such does not conflict with the Washington Disarmament Treaty.—A. and N.Z.) SENATORS REFUSED SEATS. (Received 10, 10.15 a.m.) Washington, Dec. 9. The Senate refused seats to Senators Elect Vare (Rennblienn) Pennsylvania and Smith ('Republican) Illinois on the grounds of undue campaign expenditure.—(A. and N.Z.)
