STRAY DOG NUISANCE

GARDEN PLOTS DEFILED. The floral plots, which, with their blazo of vivid tints, give such a picturesque- effect to the otherwise drab appearance of the Hastings Railway Station, and which have been kept in such excellent order by the member of the public reserves staff to whoso care they have been entrusted, are being constantly devastated by tho ravages of dogs. The Borough Council maintains this strip of pretty garden along the rail way platform and the gardener who attends to it finds it most disheartning, on starting work in the morning, to see that most of his wffrk of the previous day has been destroyed, Laving stems of flowers broken, shrubs defiled. beds overrun and ii'ci.hly laid down plants up rooted. The position has attracted fjic attention of the Borough Council, and the Railway Department is being communicated with, urging that the whole length of this decorative area bordering on Russell street and extending to the entrance to the platform at Queen street, bo protected with wire netting, which will to a great extent safeguard the blooms from the depredation of fire stray dogs that roam the streets.
