PROMOTION OF EMPIRE TRADE
GOVERNMENTS SHOULD DO MORE (Received -R, 10.15 a.m.) London, Dec. 7. Sir Archibald Weigall, tn a speech nt the Empire Industries Association luncneon, pointed out that 230 members of the House of Commons belonged to the association, therefore they ought to be able to prevent the" overlooking of Empire affairs in everyday parliamentary business.
Sir Hamar Greenwood said that Imperia] preference and safeguarding of industries had done much to promote Empire trade but the Govern, ments ought to have done more. Tho association should use its influence because Governments invariably yielded to pressure. Hp added that every scientific development assisted the Empire’s'unity.-(A. and N.Z.)
