Demand for Rates i A demand by the Christchurch City Council for £332 10s from Pyne. Gould and Guinness, for rates in respect to portions of Hagley Park occupied by the firm as tenants of the Domain Board was th 6 sufyect of an action in the Supreme Court at Christ church before Mr Justice Adams. The company uses the park for sheep grazing and leases a great part of the total area. The defence to the action was that the limited occupation—merely grazing rights—enjoyed by the company was not sufficient to carry a liability for rates, and that the land was Crown land and therefore not rateable. Judgment was reserved.
