HUTT ROAD FATALITY
CHARGE AGAINST 'BUS DRIVER A WOMAN’S EVIDENCE. Wellington. December 7. In connection with the death of Mrs Annie Watson On October 12, when a ’bus ran off the bitumen on to the Hutt road and struck a pole, wreckinc the vehicle, the driver, John O’Calllaghan, was charged today with negligent driving and causing death. The evidence followed the lines of that at the inquest. Mrs Henderson repeated that just before the accident a packe of tickes fell from beside the driver, and that he stooped to pick it up with his right hand. She also repeated that as the matter was one of such importance she decided not to mention it to anyone until the formal inquiry was held. Counsel said the evidence of another ’bus driver would be that O’Callaghan was sitting upright at the time of the accident. He asked, could that be reconciled with witness’s statement.
Witness said it was riot her business td reconcile hi» statement with hers. •
