WELLINGTON WOOL SALE A QUIETER TONE. RANGE OF PRICES. Wellington, Dec. 5. At to-day’s wool sale, the second of the series, 25,700 bales were offered, of which 90 per cent, were sold. A quieter tone prevailed compared with the somewhat feverish buying which characterised the November sale. Compared with last month crossbreds were Id lower, pieces and bellies a IJd lower, halfbreds id to id lower. Hoggets were at par. Competition was keaaer for finsr wools. Bradford operators bought more freely, while American and Australian buyers competed for the finer lots. Continental buyers competed tor half-breds and crossbreds. French buyers were not so strong on bellies and pieces. Merinos maintained November values. Super lines were slightly higher. The top prices for Merinos were 23d to 25d halfbreds 22d to 24d, fine crossbreds 17d to 18d. average 15d to 16Jd, coarse 12d to 13id.

DAISY STOCK SALE. Messrs de Pelichct, McLeod and Co. (Hastings), report having held a very successful clearing sale of dairy stock on account of Mr Cecil Vernon, Havelock North. There was a good attendance and spirited bidding, all lots being cleared under the hammer. Prices were as follows:—1 dairy cow £ll, 1 at £lO 10b. 1 at £lO 7s 6d 1 at £9 12s (id 1 at'£9 15s 1 at £8 10s, 2 at £B. 1 at £7, 1 at £7’los, 1 at £6 15s. 1 at £6 ss, 1 at £7 10s, 1 at £5, 1 fat cow £5 10s, 5 yearling dairy heifers £6 2s 6d 2 at £3 17s 6d.
